WHY IS IT SO SPECIAL?

The Stanley Hotel is one of Colorado's most iconic features. Made famous by Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining", it exudes grandeur, and features on the National Register of Historic Places. It's also one of the most haunted places in the USA.

The main building of the Stanley Hotel was built back in 1909, and to this day retains it's incredible history, whilst offering the modern luxuries needed for that romantic weekend away.

Boasting spectacular views everywhere you look, the hotel is only an hour away from Denver, and less than six miles from the Rocky Mountain National Park. If you want an accommodation where you can escape into nature, the Stanley Hotel is perfect.

The range of historic rooms within the hotel offer amenities to suit every need. Featuring queen or double beds, each preserve the historic appeal, but indulge you in modern luxury.

Should you want to relax in the evening in your very own Jacuzzi tub, choose rooms from Deluxe King and up. The Superior King rooms boast breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, perfect for watching the night fall.

If you want to really spoilt yourselves, and indulge in the ultimate privacy, The Stanley Hotel offer one, two and three bedroom condominiums complete with full kitchen, and some of the most incredible views you will ever see.

All that romance will work up an appetite, so it's lucky the hotel has some of the best dining in Estes Park. There are four restaurants you can choose from, including a la carte on the al fresco patio, and 5-course paired menus in the Table restaurant.

A mouthwatering breakfast is served in The Lodge every morning - the perfect start to the day.

There is so much history within the hotel, it's worth enjoying the official tour, where you can hear about all the people and events that made the hotel what it is today - and it's pretty spectacular.

GO THAT EXTRA MILE:

If you want to stay in one of the most haunted rooms, make sure you book in advance as availability is often limited. Ask for rooms 401, 407, 428, or 1302. If you want to be really brave, you can book room 217 - the Stephen King Suite. This has some of the most paranormal activity in the entire hotel. Good luck!

DON'T MISS:

Be introduced to the hotel's other residents with their evening ghost tours. A small additional cost, you can hear all about the 100 year history, and visit some of the locations where activity has occurred. You may even bump into F.O Stanley himself.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD WE KNOW:

Jim Carrey's "Dumb and Dumber" was filmed at the hotel!
